NORTHERN IRELAND: The use of e-cigarettes prohibited near hospitals

In Northern Ireland, the Western Trust (which manages hospitals in the west of the country) has decided to strengthen its anti-smoking policy by including a ban on e-cigarettes. A strict measure which obviously penalizes staff who wish to quit smoking.


A STRICT BAN ON E-CIGARETTE IN HOSPITALS!


In order to strengthen its anti-smoking policy, the Western Trust has decided to strengthen its anti-smoking policy and to ban e-cigarettes in hospitals in the west of the country. Healthcare facility staff have been warned that they could face disciplinary action if they fail to comply with the new regulations.

Caregivers and patients who use e-cigarettes have therefore been asked to refrain from vaping. For Dessie Lowry du Royal College of Nursingthis measure and these threats of disciplinary sanctions are "draconian".
