In Switzerland, young people under the age of 18 will no longer be able to buy e-cigarettes in the canton of Basel-Country. It is not the first canton to want to prohibit its sale to minors: the canton of Vaud also wishes to do so.
A REVISION OF THE TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL ACT!
The canton of Basel-Landschaft will ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to under 18s. The cantonal parliament on Thursday accepted at first reading a revision of the law on alcohol and tobacco.
The e-cigarette thus finds itself subject to the same legal framework as tobacco. Currently, the e-cigarette is over the counter. Members of the left and right supported the EPI motion aimed at better protection of young people.
In April, the Vaudois Grand Council accepted a postulate asking the government to submit electronic cigarettes to the same legal framework as tobacco products. He calls for the ban on e-cigarettes in public places, the advertising of these products and the sale to minors.
