This is bad news for smokers in Belgium! From 2021 and until 2024, the price of tobacco will steadily increase in Belgium.
AN INCREASE EACH YEAR UNTIL 2024
The Belgian Ministry of Finance presented on Monday the draft of its 2021 budget. And among a series of fiscal measures validated by the government is the increase in excise duties on tobacco products for 2021, with « an additional increase planned for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024 ».
The price of a pack of 20 cigarettes will thus drop to € 7,50 next year (against 6,80 currently). The impact on a 50 g packet of smoking tobacco will be an increase of € 1,47 in its price: " A package of € 9,70 in 2020 will cost € 11,17 in 2021. »
