CANADA: May, a month dedicated to risk reduction through vaping!

It's a kind of " Month of the vape which takes place this May in Canada. In effect, Rights4vapers wants to continue to convince of the benefits of vaping to replace tobacco and is launching an awareness campaign on risk reduction.

EACH YEAR, 50 SMOKERS TO SAVE!

Each year, more than 48 Canadians die from tobacco-related illnesses. If Canadian smokers understood that vaping is less harmful than smoking and is a proven way to help smokers quit, lives would be saved.

« Today we expected our petition opposing the flavor ban to be read in the House of Commons, but the Liberal government pulled the plug, in favor of passing a budget that, among other things, will tax vaping products" , said Maria Papaioannoy, spokesman for Rights4Vapers, Canada's largest vaping rights group.

« This is yet another example of the government muzzling the voice of Canadian vapers. Last year, the government proposed banning all flavored vaping products (except tobacco, mint and menthol). More than 11 vapers and supporters have signed the petition opposing this proposal.

« The Government of Canada has spent millions of dollars trying to stop people from smoking. We agree that this is a worthy cause. However, regulators must recognize the potential of vaping as a tobacco-related harm reduction tool and adopt a more progressive regulatory framework to drive down smoking rates. said Ms. Papaioannoy.

Instead, Canadian smokers and vapers face increasingly draconian regulations, from nicotine levels to flavor bans. “Regulators seem to have forgotten that their job is to protect Canadians from the harms associated with smoking. Worse still, the government has deterred smokers from trying vaping as an alternative to harm reduction by not communicating the true harm reduction potential,” Ms Papaioannoy said.

» The losers in all of this are Canadian smokers and vapers. They have been ostracized because they dare to be addicted to nicotine. Vaping is a proven alternative and less harmful than smoking. Public health authorities around the world have made it clear that vaping can be an effective tool in helping smokers quit, but only if the right regulatory and societal frameworks are in place. Vaping products are the best hope for hundreds of thousands of Canadians who smoke and are looking for an alternative to cigarettes.

Earlier this year, Public Health England published its latest review of vaping studies. He found that the "best thing a smoker can do is quit smoking completely and evidence shows that vaping is one of the most effective ways to quit smoking, helping around 50 smokers to quit. smoke per year.

During the month of May, Rights4Vapers will host a series of events to raise awareness of the importance of tobacco-related harm reduction to demonstrate how vaping can contribute to tobacco control.
