DOSSIER: Solana E liquids, well-being at work whatever the cost

Summer is here and there...it's hot, very hot, and we're still in Ch'ti country: Pas de Calais to be exact, the destination of our first meeting with Solana. We were about to leave, when the heat wave caught up with us, and before our eyes the company reorganized itself to maintain the well-being at work of its employees...An opportunity for us to tell you how a major player in the vape can continue to ensure quality production while benevolently sparing all of its vital forces, and much more as you will discover!

SOLANA, THE AGILE COMPANY

A company like Solana is in continuous production even during the summer period.

Like all major players in the vape, it must organize itself to ensure a permanent service to honor all orders, their productions, and their deliveries.

Rodolphe THELLIER – Managing Director and Marie-Anne LE DREVO – President and Lab Manager

With its eight years of existence, Solana E liquids is no longer a startup but a pretty SME held with a paternalistic but firm hand by an inseparable couple in life and at work:  Rodolphe THELIER et Marie-anne THE DREVO, husband and wife, but also managing director and president (see the full history of the company and this family in our previous article Solana E Liquides, the story of a French and innovative manufacturer).

It is therefore quite natural that, as every year Solana E liquids has set up an on-call service to continue to fulfill its orders and deliver to the company's hundreds of customers, even during the summer break.

This permanence is both based on a voluntary system, but also and like everywhere else on seniority. This allows newcomers to continue to gain experience, while more seasoned employees take well-deserved time off.

All that is very nice, but how to ensure this permanence when the temperatures explode, and that the production unit of several thousand square meters is under more than ten meters of ceiling, therefore impossible to air-condition?

How to allow the laboratory technicians to continue to do all the health tests and quality measurements of E-liquids when the wearing of the gown and the mask are compulsory, but the lab does not have air conditioning, because the region of the company is closer to XNUMX degrees in August than the XNUMX that the Pas de Calais is currently experiencing?

SOLANA, THE WELL-BEING OF EMPLOYEES FIRST AND FOREMOST!

If the Ch'ti company has to equip its laboratory as if it were located in the south of France where the heat wave is a habit, never mind, " the well-being of employees comes first, and we must ensure it whatever the cost! " spear Rodolphe Thellier with a mischievous smile...

From words to deeds, there is… a big check to equip the laboratory, in order to allow the company's men in white to be able to work in the greatest possible comfort, whatever the temperatures.

Yes, but how can this same well-being be ensured for the machine operators who work in the gigantic production unit that cannot be air-conditioned?

It is Marie Anne le Drevo who managed to solve the squaring of the circle through two simple but very effective actions:

  1. The company decides to shift its hours. By starting at 07 a.m. and ending the day at 00 p.m., employees avoid the hottest hours of the day.
  2. Air currents have been cleverly created, supported by fans placed at strategic locations.

In doing so, the company remains eco-responsible, while relieving its employees, it's simple, but it's well done!

SOLANA, AFTER EFFORT, COMFORT

If the company has adapted to temperatures worthy of the Mediterranean regions, it has also adopted the customs.

This is how weekends rhyme with barbecue banquets, an always festive moment allowing the team to get together...

We liked the barbecue so much that we decided to stay a little longer, so we'll give you an appointment for a next article to learn more about this major player in the French vape.
