Vaping: End of misinformation?

Vaping: End of misinformation?

Yes we know it's the start of the weekend, but enough is enough!

We thought at the end of 2023 that 2024 was going to be the year of attacks against vaping, but we were very naive.

Every day, everywhere in the world, there is a bogus article, or almost, explaining that vaping is bad, so we have decided, with the greatest humility possible, to return to the fundamentals, sources of information at the support. If at the end of this article you continue to smoke, it will not be for lack of information, but because you want to. Conversely, if you don't smoke, don't vape either...that's it.

Now we get back to the basics:

According to data from the very large randomized controlled study published in 2019 in the New England Journal of Medicine, electronic cigarettes are twice as effective as traditional nicotine substitutes in helping smokers quit smoking permanently [1]. Many other studies reach the same conclusions [2][3].

Contrary to some claims, electronic cigarettes represent a reduced risk compared to tobacco of 95 to 97% according to estimates from British and American health authorities [4][5]. They emit toxic substances, but at significantly lower levels than cigarette smoke.

Fears relating to the potentially harmful effects on health of exhaled vapors (“secondary vapor”) are contradicted by the majority of studies which have analyzed the composition of this vapor [6][7].

In France, the National Health Security Agency concludes in a recent report that “the benefit/risk of vaping can be considered favorable compared to tobacco” to reduce harm among smokers [8].

It is therefore regrettable that some continue to equate vaping with traditional smoking. This misinformation endangers public health by dissuading smokers from adopting a significantly less risky alternative.

Balanced and objective information on vaping, based on science, is essential to allow smokers to make informed choices.

If you think this article can help someone quit smoking...it's up to you, you have what you need.
