On November 18, 2024, American conservative commentator Tucker Carlson announced the launch of his own brand of nicotine pouches, named ALP. Billed as "the first nicotine pouch brand designed by and for adults who enjoy nicotine without the hang-ups," ALP is a XNUMX/XNUMX joint venture between the Tucker Carlson Network and Turning Point Brands.
ALP offers nicotine pouches in three strengths: 3 mg, 6 mg and 9 mg, and comes in four distinct flavors: Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Refreshing Chill and Tropical Fruit. Carlson expressed his displeasure with the big companies in the industry, saying, “There is no reason consumers should be forced to buy nicotine pouches from soulless, pronoun-obsessed, politicized conglomerates that disregard them and their culture.”
A portion of ALP's profits will be donated to charities that share the values of its consumers, such as forest restoration, the protection of former service dogs and the funding of scholarships for professional training in the United States.
The move comes after Carlson and Philip Morris International (PMI), the maker of Zyn, the leading nicotine pouch brand. In 2023, Carlson made a humorous remark about Zyn, calling it a “powerful work stimulant and also a male stimulant.” PMI responded by refusing to collaborate with Carlson, citing the lack of scientific basis for his claims. This response prompted Carlson to create his own brand, ALP, which he describes as a “delicious and much better alternative to Zyn, which, in case you haven’t noticed, is as dry as a tea bag.”
