A new news item is reviving the controversy over electronic cigarettes. David Aspinall, a 48-year-old Briton, suffered from his smoking cessation. He said his electronic cigarette exploded and seriously injured his legs.
In a paid article, The Sun reports that the electronic cigarette he was smoking overheated and eventually exploded. "The cigarette was burning in my hand, I dropped it and it finally exploded," says David Aspinall. Scraps of metal from the battery were thrown at his legs and a fire even broke out at his home.
9 days of hospitalization for a defective electronic cigarette
David Aspinall took refuge with a neighbor who called the emergency services. Doctors compared his injuries to gunshot wounds. In this mishap, he lost a liter of blood, he got 9 days in hospital and will have to undergo multiple skin grafts.
Last August, another Briton was killed in a fire probably caused by the charger of his electronic cigarette, which was not the original one.
