Nothing is going well for electronic cigarettes in Indonesia. Last Monday, the Ministry of Commerce released a new law that aims to restrict the trade in electronic cigarettes in the country.
AFTER THE TAX ON VAPE, AN IMPORT LIMITATION
The Indonesian government has clearly decided to break the vape market in the country. according to Enggartiasto Lukita, the Minister of Commerce, the new regulation that restricts the trade of electronic cigarettes will come into effect in three months.
« E-cigarettes can only be sold and imported publicly if traders obtain letters of recommendation from the Ministry of Health and products are certified with the Indonesian National Standard", He declared adding" The regulations have been signed. After it comes into force, we will do inspections and take action [against reported violations]. »
Previously, the General Directorate of Customs had already announced a 57% tax on electronic cigarettes which should take effect on July 1, 2018. Suffice to say that the future of electronic cigarettes looks bleak in Indonesia.
