And well in the continuity of this business, Underwriter Laboratories (UL), a leading global scientific organization in the field of security just announced have received authorization to assess electronic systems and electronic cigarette batteries in order to subsequently issue certification.
UL 8139 CERTIFICATION: A GUARANTEE OF RELIABILITY FOR E-CIGARETTES?
The United States Department of Homeland Security in January reported an increased number of incidents involving e-cigarettes and resulting in injury. These events following the spectacular growth of the electronic cigarette market highlight some safety concerns. Underwriter Laboratories will now be able to test and certify vaping devices through a system approach evaluating the device, its battery and its charging system.
The aim is to specifically assess the safety of electrical, heating, battery and charging systems. The UL 8139 standard does not evaluate e-liquid or resistances, nor is it intended to evaluate the long-term or physiological effects of consumables.
