AUSTRALIA: Philip Morris approaches pharmacies to sell its e-cigarette

Arrived late on the vape market after prioritizing heated tobacco (IQOS), Philip Morris is now trying to catch up with its "Veev" device. With a view to rapid development, the tobacco giant does not hesitate to offer a financial incentive for Australian pharmacies that would play the game.

A FINANCIAL INCENTIVE FOR PHARMACISTS

As part of rapid development, the tobacco giant, Philip Morris had devised a plan. By creating a program to promote its new e-cigarette “ Veev with Australian pharmacists, the tobacco company imagined being able to gain hegemony on the market. Based on financial incentives for pharmacists directing their patients to this device, the launch was finally interrupted following numerous pressures from doctors and health experts.

Still on stand-by, the program offers a financial incentive of $275 Australian (188 €) if the pharmacy orders for at least 250 Australian dollars (170€) of pods (refills) and devices of the brand VEEV from the manufacturer Philip Morris International (PMI). Pharmacists will also receive: 5 Australian dollars (3,4€) for each sale of VEEV, 10 Australian dollars (6,8 €) for informing a potential new customer about the device, and 5 Australian dollars to refer him to a doctor in order to obtain a prescription.

To see now if in the coming weeks the tobacco giant will manage to rush into the wonderful world of pharmacy.
