A new study focuses on the effectiveness of e-cigarettes and nicotine substitutes (patches, chewing gum and inhalation sprays) prescribed to help smokers quit their addiction.
Researchers from the Queen Mary University of London thus followed 135 smokers who could not stop their consumption. For 6 months, some remained under patches, gums or sprays. Others have switched to e-cigarettes.
Major point of the study, the e-cigarette is more effective for a stable and lasting stop, compared to nicotine competitors. In the e-cigarette group, 27% of volunteers halved their cigarette consumption, compared to 6% in the conventional devices group. And 19% of vapers have completely stopped smoking, compared to 3% in people on patches, gums or sprays.

As a general rule, it is estimated that " 80% of smokers using conventional devices to quit smoking resumed their use one year after quitting.
